a mother is 24 year old than her son after 4 years the age of mother will be three times the age of son find the present age of mother and son​

Solution :-

Let the son's age be x years

Mother's age = x + 24 years

After 4 years,

Son's age = x + 4 years

Mother's age = 3(x + 4) years

According to the question,

=> 3(x + 4) = x + 24 + 4

=> 3x + 12 = x + 28

=> 3x - x = 28 - 12

=> 2x = 16

=> x = 16/2 = 8

Hence,

Son's age = x = 8 years

Mother's age = x + 24 = 8 + 24 = 32 years

Solution :

Let the son's age be S years

Mother's age be M years

According to the question,

S + 24 = M _____(1)

3(S + 4) = M + 4 ____(2)

Putting the value of M in equation (2) we get,

=> 3(S + 4) = S + 24 + 4

=> 3S + 12 = S + 28

=> 3S - S = 28 - 12

=> 2S = 16

=> S = 16/2 = 8

Putting the value of S in equation (1) we get,

8 + 24 = M

=> M = 32

Answer : Mother's age = 32 years and Son's age = 8 years.
