Let us assume, the present age of mother is x years and present age of daughter is y years.

Given:

x + 5 = 3 (y + 5)
x + 5 = 3y + 15
x - 3y = 10  -------------1

Also given, 5 years ago

x - 5 = 7 (y - 5)
x -  5 = 7y - 35
7y - x = 30 --------------2

Adding equation 1 and equation 2

4y = 40
y = 10 years

substitute the value of y in equation 1

x - 3*10 = 10
x - 30 = 10
x = 40 years

The present age of mother is 40 years and present age of daughter = 10 years

Answer:

Let the age of daughter be x years.

Then, the age of mother will be (50 - x) years.

According to Question now,

➳ 7(x - 5) = 50 - x - 5

➳ 7x - 35 = 45 - x

➳ 7x + x = 45 + 35

➳ 8x = 80

➳ x = 10 years

Therefore,

Present Age of daughter = x = 10 years

Present Age of mother = 50 - x = 40 years.
