A motor car covers 1/3rd part of total distance with v1 = 10 km/hr, second 1/3rd part with v2 = 20 km/hr and rest 1/3rd part with v3 = 60 km/hr. what is the average speed of the car?

Let the total distance covered be 3x.
so,
time taken for first one third= x/10 hr
time taken for second one third= x/20 hr
time taken for third one third= x/60 hr

so, total time taken=x/10 +x/20 +x/60= (6x+3x+x)/60=10x/60=x/6

as average speed =total distance/ total time
so, avg. speed=3x/(x/6)= 18 km/hr

Thanks.
