A 25m ladder placed against a vertical wall of a building. the foot of the ladder is 7 m from the base of the building . if the top of the ladder slips 4m, then find the foot of the ladder slide

let the arrangement be a right angled triangle
base=7
hypo .=25
so, vertical height will be =√(25^2-7^2) =24

Now vertical height reduces to 24-4 =20 as the ladder slips .
hypotenuse is same 25
so, new base =√(25^2-20^2)=15

so, the foot of ladder slides from 7m to 15 m from the wall and the magnitude if slide is 8m.
