A motor cyclist goes around a circular track 252.8 meter long at 74 km/hr. How far from the vertical must he lean inwards to keep his balance ?We first convert the speed to m/s

We convert as follows :

Velocity = 5/18 × 72 =  20 m/s

The formula is :

Tan x = gr / v^2

Where :

x = inclination angle

r = radius of the circular path

V = the velocity of the cyclist.

g = 10

We do the substitution as follows :

(10 × 80) / (20 × 20)

= 800/400) = 2

Tan x = 2

X = Tan inverse of 2

= 63.43°
