In this case,

u (Initial Velocity) = 20 m/sec
v (final velocity) = 0 m/sec (at rest)
time (t) = 5 secs

a = (v-u) /t
a= (0 - 20) / 5

a= -20 / 5

a = -4 m/sec square

Therefore Deceleration produced is 4 m/sec square

Given: Initial speed, u=20\text{ m/s}

To find: deceleration

A motor cycle is being driven at a speed of 20 m/s when brake are applied to bring it to rest in 5 seconds.

Using equation formula,

v=u+at

where, v is final velocity, u is initial velocity and t is time.

After rest final speed of motorcycle is 0

0=20+a\times 5

a=-\dfrac{20}{5}

a=-4\text{ m/s}^2

Hence, the deceleration of motorcycle is 4 m/s².
