a moving truck takes a much longer time to stop than that taken by a car when brakes are pressed at the same time. why?

A moving truck takes much longer time to stop due to greater inertia. 
Also truck has a greater momentum if both are moving at same speed

A truck is heavier so you need more force to stop it than a car and I don't think anyone would want to slam the brakes down as hard as possible unless it was an emergency.
