Finally, the day had arrived that would decide my life career. Tension lingered in the atmosphere, as I entered the room and cautiously waited for my turn for the job interview. “Fahad, next, it’s time for your interview” the clerk made announcement which ricocheted and bounced off the walls in the small hall packed like sardines. I stepped up from my seat and nervously walked towards the oak-colored door as everyone eyed me and gave me best wishes.
A year ago, my life took a complete U-turn, living in a well-established family led me prevail in the streets of the shabby area of Islamabad for a one-time meal. I had never looked forward to this time of the year when I would live without my parents and other family members for my whole life or even a second, who had left me and my small baby brother Mamoon alone in a state of desperation and utter confusion. My parents and family members died in a deadly plane crash in Islamabad, whilst they were coming back tour visit of Turkey. Disappointment, disbelief and fear filled my mind as I came to know about this news, I sat petrified at the airport and was unable to believe! After this incident I grew ever so quickly and became mature because we were now the only one to survive in our family and I needed to do something for our survival as I was elder one.
As I entered the room for the interview, the atmosphere felt heavy. The interviewee called me and offered me to have a seat. I anxiously walked toward the chair and sat calmly demonstrating no expression of lack of confidence. The interviewee started asking different type of questions to test my skills in every era of the job which I elected. Praying to God and having confidence in myself, I answered all questions successfully as I was well educated by my parents. “Thank you for your precious time sir. If you are selected you will be called again” the interviewee muttered shaking my hand. As I stepped out of the people in the hall gathered around me as if bees gathered around honey, asking for what type of questions were asked in the interview. Thanking God for his help I strolled out of the crowd of people, taking a deep sigh, I booked a taxi and reached home.
