Answer: 10.05 kg

Explanation:

First of all we will find the acceleration produced when the mass travels using equation of motion:

s = u t + 0.5 a t²

where s is the displacement, u is the initial velocity, t is the time and a is the acceleration.

It is given that, d = 4.75 m

t = 4.23 s

u = 0 ( initially mass is at rest)

⇒4.75 m = 0 + 0.5 a (4.23 s)²

⇒a = 0.531 m/s²

Now we know that,

Force = mass × acceleration

Force, F= 5.34 N

⇒Mass (m) = 5.34 N÷0.531 m/s² = 10.05 kg

Hence, the mass is 10.05 kg
