Answer:

An organic compound when warmed with ethanoic acid ( CH3COOH) in presence of Concentrated Sulphuric acid (H2SO4) , it gives sweet smelling ester.

That organic compound is ethanol, which is an alcohol and has OH as functional group which is attached to the second carbon atom.

The structural formula of ethanol is CH3CH2OH.

So, ethanol on reacting with ethanoic acid in the presence of Conc H2SO4 , undergoes esterification reaction that eliminates water and produces ethyl acetate.

CH3CH2OH + CH3COOH -> CH3COOCH2CH3 + H2O
