The organic compound,

X represents Ethanol

Y represents Ethanoic acid and

Z represents Ethyl ethanoate

Explanation:

A neutral organic compound X of molecular formula C_{2} H_{6} O is Ethanol (alcohol with a function -OH)

When the ethanol oxidizes (controlled combustion) with acidified potassium dichloromethane, it undergoes an oxidation reaction, results in the formation of an acidic compound Y, called Ethanoic acid.

Ethanol reacts with ethanoic acid in the residence of conc sulphuric acid to deliver a sweet-smelling ester named Ethyl ethanoate(Z)

Therefore

X= Ethanol; Y= Ethanoic acid; and, Z = Ethyl ethanoate
