Let the digit at unit place be x

tens place digit will be 8 - x

So, no. will be 10(8 - x ) + x

According to question the digit gets reversed after subtracting 54

so, 10(8-x) + x - 54 = 10(x) + (8 - x )

so, 80 - 10x + x - 54 = 10x + 8 - x

or, 80 - 9x - 54 = 9x + 8

or, 26 -8 = 18x

or, 18 = 18 x

so, x = 1

hence, no is 10(8-1) + 1 = 71

Answer:

Given:

A number cinsists of two digits whose sum is 8. If 54 is subtracted from the number, the digits are revesed.

To Find:

We need to find the number.

Solution:

Let the digit at one's place be x.

So,tens place digit will be 8 - x.

But, it is given in the question that when 54 is subtracted from the number, the digits are revesed Hence,

10(8 - x) + x - 54 = 10 (x) + (8 -x)

=> 80 - 10x + x - 54 = 10 x + 8 - x

=> 26 - 9x = 9x + 8

=> 26 - 8 = 9x + 9x

=> 18 = 18x

=> 18/18 = x

=> 1 = x

or x = 1

Therefore one's digit = 1 and ten's digit = (8 - x) = 8 - 1 = 7.

Therefore number = 71.

Hence, the number is 71.
