A number consist of two digits whose sum is 5 . if 9 is subtracted from the mumber the digits are reversed .find the number

musku425: Let the number be xy.
x + y = 5
(10x + y) - 9 = 10y + x (I multiplied by 10 because of place values)
10x + y - 9 = 10y + x
9x - 9y = 9
x - y = 1
So, now we know x+y = 5 and x - y = 1
x + y = 5
x - y = 1
+_________
2x = 6
x = 3
x + y = 5
3 + y = 5
y = 2
The number is 32.

Let tens digit be = x
Ones digit be = y
Required number =10x + y
A. T. Q.
X + Y = 5...................1
And
(10x+y) - 9 = 10y + x
10x + Y - 9 = 10y + x
9x - 9y - 9 =0
X - Y - 1 = 0
X - Y = 1
Putting value of value from equation 1
X - 5 + X =1
2x = 6
X=3
Putting x = 3 in equation 1
Y = 2
Required number = 10 x 3 + 2
=32
