Let the smallest part be x
And The another part is (x+10)
Given that two parts in ratio 5:3
=>(x+10):x=5:3
=>(x+10)/x=5/3
By cross multiplication
=>3 (x+10)=5x
=>3x+30=5x
=>5x-3x=30
=>2x=30
=>x=15
X+10=25

3x +10=5x
Here 8x (5x+3x the two parts )is the number and 5x and 3x are its two parts
10=5x-3x
10=2x
X=5(10/2)
hence 8x=8*5=40 (the no.)
5x=5*5=25(one part )
3x=3*5=15(2nd part)
here the difference is ten that is one no.is ten more than the other and the ratio is 25/15=5/3=5:3
Therefore the no.is 40 and the two parts are 25 and 15.
