Answer:

let the number to be divided = X

ratio = 3:5

sum of the parts = 3 +5=8

first share = 21

3/8 × X = 21

3X = 21 ×8

X = 21 × 8/3

X = 56

second share

5/8 × 56 = 35

Let the number be x.
As given x is to be divided as,3:5
So we can also write 3:5=3y:5y
Aa given first share =21
Which means 3y=21
So, y =7
So second share is 5y which is 5 x 7=35

As we divided x into 3y:5y
So 3y+5y=x
Hence 21+35=x
56=x

Hence the answer for your question is, second share=35

Hope it helps!!
