Let the first number be x
And the second number is 2x
50-2x=40 - x+2
50-42= -x +2x
8=x
therefore x=8
first number is 8 and the second number is 2×8=16
And the second number is 2x

8=x
therefore x=8
first number is 8 and the second number is 2×8=16
