Let the numbers be x and y

Given A number is twice another number

=>x=2y-------->1

Also Given when the larger is subtracted from 50 the result is 2 more than when the smaller is subtracted from 40 find the number

=>x-50=2+(y-40)

=>x-y=12

from equation 1 we get

2y-y=12

=>y=12

we know x=2y=2(12)=24

HEnce 2 numbers are 12 and 24
