a number on subtracting 15 from reducig to its 80% what is 40% of the number.

Let us assume the the numbe be x.

Then the equation we get as per simple linear equation:

x - 15 = 80% of x

x - 15 = 80x/100

100x - 1500 = 80x

100x - 80x = 1500

20x = 1500

x = 1500/20 = 75

40% of 75 = 40/100 of 75 = 30.

Ans: 30.

A * 30 + B * 40 = B * 80
   100 100 100
=> A * 30 = B * 80 - B * 40
   100    100 100

   =>A * 30 = B * 40
              100        100
=>3A = 4B
Required percent = 3/4 * 100 = 75%
