Let the number be x

A number when multiplied by 4 = x × 4 = 4x

A number when multiplied by 4 exceesds itself by 45 = 4x = x + 45

According to the question,

4x = x + 45

➾ 4x - x = 45

➾ 3x = 45

➾ x = \dfrac{45}{3}

➾ x = 15

∴ The number is \bf{15}

Verification :-

4x = x + 45

➾ 4x - x = 45

➾ 3x = 45

➾ 3 × 15 = 45

➾ 45 = 45

∴ LHS = RHS ✔✔
