Step-by-step explanation:

let number be x

fifth part =x/5

increases by 5 =x/5 +5

fourth part =x/4

diminish by 4 =x/4 -4

x/5 +5 = x/4 -4

x/4 -x/5 =5+4

x/4 - x/5 =9

take LCM

5x-4x/20 =9

x/20=9

x=20×9

x=180 is answer obtained

Let the required number be x

Fourth part of this number by 4

 = \frac{x}{5} + 4

Fourth part of this number decreased by 10

 =  \frac{x}{4} - 10

According to given condition, we have :

 \frac{x}{5} +  4 =  \frac{x}{4} - 10 =  >  \frac{x}{4} -  \frac{x}{5} = 4 + 10 =  >  \frac{5x - 4x}{20} = 4

 =  > 5x - 4x = 14 \times20 =  > x = 280

Hence, the required answer is 280.

Hope it helps
