ANSWER :

a = 1

EXPLANATION :

GIVEN :

a polynomial f(x) = x⁵ - a²x³ + 2x + a - 3 have a factor (x-a).

TO FIND :

value of "a".

SOLUTION :

According to the question polynomial have one factor (x-a) , then x = a will satisfy the polynomial.

● Let's put x = a in f(x) –

= f(a) = 0

= a⁵ - a²(a³) + 2(a) + a - 3 = 0

= a⁵ - a⁵ + 3 a - 3 = 0

= 3 a - 3 = 0

= 3 a = 3

= a = 1

EXTRA INFORMATION :

Every factor 's zero of polynomial will satisfy the polynomial.
