a nut is a hard- shelled dry fruit or seed of some plants.it is indehiscent seed i.e opening at maturity to release seed.it is not necessary that every seed needs to be a  nut. eg.orange seeds, mango seeds etc.

Answer

  • There's a distinction between seeds and nuts.
  • Technically, nuts are some plants "hard-shelled fruit".
  • Seeds are an edible little plant contained in a seed coat.
  • Nuts are described as a straightforward, dry fruit with one seed in which the seed case wall becomes very difficult at maturity.
  • True nuts are pecans, sweet chestnuts, beeches, acorns, hazels, hornbeams and alder.
  • Usually peanuts, cahewnuts are referred to as nuts.
