- There's a distinction between seeds and nuts.
- Technically, nuts are some plants "hard-shelled fruit".
- Seeds are an edible little plant contained in a seed coat.
- Nuts are described as a straightforward, dry fruit with one seed in which the seed case wall becomes very difficult at maturity.
- True nuts are pecans, sweet chestnuts, beeches, acorns, hazels, hornbeams and alder.
- Usually peanuts, cahewnuts are referred to as nuts.
