a object moves from X to Y and again moves back from Y to X . what is the displacement of an object and its average velocity ?

We know that displacement is the measure of shortest distance possible between starting point and destination point,in our case clearly starting point and ending point is the same point,therefore displacement is zero.

As average velocity is defined as the ratio of displacement to the time,therfore avg velocity is also zero.

The displacement is zero as initial point and final point coincidewith each other average velocity =total distance/total time taken

V=s/t

V=2xy/t
