Only around 100 tigers remain in Bangladesh’s famed Sundarbans forest, far fewer of the endangered animals

than previously thought, according to a census. Monirul Khan, a zoology professor at Bangladesh’s

Jahangirnagar University and the nation’s foremost tiger expert, said that the government needed to do more

to protect the animals, whose numbers were shrinking because of poaching and rapid development on the

edge of the forest.

Tiger is a very beautiful wild animal. Tigers
live together in families in thick forests. They are (man-eaters)
carnivores. They live by group hunting of deers, buffalos and such
animals.

Tiger is the national animal of India. Bengal tigers are
famous in the world. Many thousands of tigers were hunted and killed by
poachers, kings, some rich people and some British officials.
So now in India we do not have many tigers left. Government
started a project Tiger in 1973 to save their population.Because of
this project, the population of tigers is increased and is just
about a two thousand two hundred, that's all. Poaching and killing tigers
is illegal. It is punishable under law.

A tiger is very strong and it can run at 40 kmph. Tiger is an
animal of "Cat" family. That is why tigers have whiskers above their
mouths. There are beautiful black stripes on the skin of tigers. They are
yellow in color. Tigers are heavy and could be upto 250 kilos also. Female
tigers are lighter. Tigers are preserved in many zoos and national
parks of India.

I like tigers. They look so royal. When someone is ferocious
or performing good, we call him or her a tiger. It is an honor. Tigers
are our pride. We need to save tigers. Let us contribute positively to project tiger
