Kalidasa ia renowned classical writer who wrote in sanskrit language. His main topics were - Vedas,Mahabharata and Puranas.
His major books are shakuntala and raghuvamsha.

Kalidasa is known as the "father of Indian drama". He is also called the Shakespeare of Indian drama. Kalidasa lived in and around fifth century AD during the time of the Gupta period.
He was the court poet of Kumaragupta II. This period is also called the Golden period of Indian literature because of works of Kalidasa was created during this time.
Kalidasa is often called as the Shakespeare of Indian Literature because, he attained the same greatness as Shakespeare attained in the world of Western Literature.
Kalidasa’s drama includes Abhigyanam Shakuntalam, Meghdootam, etc. All his plays are written in Sanskrit but over some time, it has been translated to many different and foreign languages.
