Work done by painter

Solution:

  • Work done is equals to energy spent in doing a work.
  • Work done being a scalar quantity is given by the dot product of force and distance.

wd = f \times s \times  \cos( \theta)

  • Here theta is the angle between f and s
  • Since in the given case, weight of paint can (force) acts downwards and displacement is done in horizontal direction, theta equals to 90°
  • Cos90°= 0
  • Hence, work done by painter is zero.
