A pair of immature mice got loose in the basement. It takes mice 1 month to mature and another month to produce a new pair of mice. They will continue to produce a new pair of mice each month. The new pairs of mice grow and reproduce at the same rate. If no mice die, how many pairs will there be after a year? Also, the original pairs of mice can produce new pairs of mice again after previously doing so.

Answer:

233 Pairs will be there after an year

Step-by-step explanation:

Initially A pair of Mice - Unamtured

After 1 Month = 1 Pair of Mice   - Matured

After 2 Month = 1 Matured Pair + 1 Unmatured Pair

After 3 Months = 2 Matured Pair + 1 Unmatured Pair

After 4 months = 3 Matured Pair  + 2 Unmatured Pair

After 5 months = 5 Matured Pair  + 3 Unmatured Pair

After 6 months = 8 Matured Pair  + 5 Unmatured Pair

After 7 months = 13 Matured Pair  + 8 Unmatured Pair

After 8 months = 21 Matured Pair  + 13 Unmatured Pair

After 9 months = 34 Matured Pair  + 21 Unmatured Pair

After 10 months = 55 Matured Pair  + 34 Unmatured Pair

After 11 months = 89 Matured Pair  + 55 Unmatured Pair

After 12 months = 144 Matured Pair  + 89 Unmatured Pair

144 + 89 = 233 Pairs will be there after an year
