Narendranath Dutta, who later came to be known as Swami Vivekananda was born on 12 January 1863 to a Bengali family in Calcutta. His father and grandfather along with his mother possessed rich spiritual, religious and educational values which were evidently passed on to him. He was a curious child and had an inclination towards Spirituality at a very young age. He travelled far and wide spreading the message of Hinduism to the world outside India. As a result of his teachings and works, he is regarded as an inspiration and idol to the youth of the country till date.

His parents and close relatives used to call him 'Billey' .He was a very bright student . He was a spiritual hindu monk . His main philosophy is Advaita Vedanta . He also started many institutions and wrote many books on relegious and human basis .Swami ji did not live till the age of forty, as predicted by him . He died on 4 July ,1902 .
