Solution :

Let, the sum lent at 10% p.a. is Rs. x and the sum lent at 7% p.a. is Rs. (1500 - x).

By the given condition, the total interest earned in three year = Rs. 396

⇒ (x * 3 * 10)/100 + {(1500 - x) * 3 * 7}/100 = 396

⇒ 30x/100 + 21 (1500 - x)/100 = 396

⇒ (30x + 31500 - 21x)/100 = 396

⇒ 9x + 31500 = 39600

⇒ 9x = 39600 - 31500 = 8100

x = 900

Therefore, Rs. 900 was lent in 10% p.a.
