It will occur majorly in c3 plants where the RuBisco enzyme combines with O2 instead of co2. Hence the O2 is fixed inside the mesophyll cells and the co2 is again released into the atmosphere.. Hence photorespiration is a wasteful process which is totally antagonist to the photosynthesis...!!
