A particle can be in two different states given by orthonormal wave functions ψ1 and ψ2. If the probability of being in state ψ1 is 1/3, find out normalized wave function for the particle.

As the wave function ψ is othronormalized thus there is no linear relationship between ψ1 and ψ2.

So if the probability of

ψ1 is 1/3 then the probability for ψ2 should be 3/4. {as total probability 1}

So the wave function is

ψ=(1/3)ψ1 + (3/4)ψ2
