A particle initially at rest, moves with an acceleration 5 ms⁻² for 5s. Find the distance travelled in
(i) 4s
(ii) 5s
(iii) 5th second

(i) Distance travelled in 4s  = 40 m

(ii) Distance travelled in 5s  = 62.5 m

(iii) Distance travelled in 5th second = 12.5 m

a = 5 m/s2

s = ut + 1/2at^2

(i) Distance travelled in 4s = 0 + 1/2 * 5 * 4 * 4 = 40 m

(ii) Distance travelled in 5s = 0 + 1/2 * 5 * 5 * 5 = 62.5 m

(iii) Distance travelled in the 5th second = 62.5 - 40 = 12.5 m
