a particle initially (i.e at t =0 ) moving with a velocity ' U' is subjected to retarding force , as a result of which it declares its rate.. answer please in step by step​

let the retardation or deceleration be a

initial velocity=u

final velocity=0. ( DUE to retardation it will come to rest)

time =t

then

using the first equation of motion ,we will get

V=u+at

0=u-at.

a=-u/t
