Given that,

A particle is acted upon a four forces are

F_{1}=30\ N due east

F_{2}=20\ N due north

F_{3}=15\ N due west

F_{4}=40\ N due south

We need to calculate the magnitude of resultant force of the particle

Using formula of resultant force

\vec{R}=\vec{F_{1}}+\vec{F_{2}}+\vec{F_{3}}+\vec{F_{4}}

Put the value into the formula

\vec{R}=30i+20j-15i-40j

\vec{R}=15i-20j

|\vec{R}|=|15i-20j|

R=\sqrt{(15)^2+(20)^2}

R=25\ N

Hence, The magnitude of resultant force of the particle is 25 N.
