A particle is moving in a circular path of radius r. What would be the distance and
displacement
(i) after half a circle and
(ii) after a full circle?

Answer:

(i) distance : πr  displacement : 2r

(ii) distance : 2πr displacement : 0

Explanation:

(i) when it covers only half of the circle we should consider the diameter thus displacement and distance are  2r and πr respectively

(ii) when it covers complete circle it comes back to its same place so displacement would be 0 and distance is 2πr as it covers the whole circumference
