A particle is moving in q circular path of radius R what would be the distance and displacement after completing 1.5 rounds.

displacement after 1.5 round will be 2R(diameter)

distance will be 3πR

Explanation:

  • suppose, the particle starts from the point A, then after completing 1 round,it will reach A itself, now ,if it completes an another half round, the particle will be at B.
  • displacement of a particle means the shortest distance between the initial point and final point, and as you see, it will be the equal to the diameter, AB of the circle.
  • when the particle completes one round, then the distance will be it's perimeter(2πR)

and when it cover another half round,

distance will perimeter/2.(i.e, 2πR/2=πR)

therefore, total distance covered will be,

= 2πR+πR

= 3πR
