A particle moves 1 unit northwards, then moves 5 units eastward and then moves 1 unit upwards. The displacement of the particle from its original position is:

Answer:

consider northwards distance along Y axis , eastward along x axis and upward along z axis.

then (x,y,z)=(5,1,1)

so displacement will be the diagonal formed by a cuboid. .

thus, diagonal of cuboid =

 \sqrt{x {}^{2}  + y {}^{2}  + z {}^{2} }  =  \sqrt{5 {}^{2}  + 1 {}^{2} + 1 {}^{2} }  = 3 \sqrt{3}
