A particle moves a distance of 3 kilometre towards east then 4 km towards north and then 2 kilometre towards east. Find the total distance and the net displacement of the particle.

By Pythagoras Theorem

= PR² + QR² = PQ²

= 5² + 4² = PQ²

= 25 + 16 = PQ²

= 41 = PQ²

∴ PQ = √41 KM
