A particle moves in a semicircular path of radius 7m from the point A to B as shown in the figure. Calculate the distance and displacement produced by the particle​

➥ Displacement produced by particle = 14 m

Given :

➤ Semicircular path of radius = 7 m

To Find :

➤ Distance produced by particle = ?

➤ Displacement produced by particle = ?

Solution :

Radius (r) = 7 cm

∴ BC = 7 cm

Diameter (AC) = 2r

⟾ AC = 2 × 7

⟾ AC = 14 m

AC = 14 m .....

Distance traveled = Circumference of semicircular

⟾ Distance traveled = πr

⟾ Distance traveled = 3.14 × 14 (π = 3.14)

⟾ Distance traveled = 44 m (approx)

Displacement = shortest distance \:

Shortest distance from C to A = diameter

∴ Diameter = 14 m [from ❶]

Hence, the distance and displacement produced by the particle is 44 m and 14 m.
