The force exerted on the wall is 0.15 N

Explanation:

Let the force exerted by the wall is F

Impulse by the wall = F × t

Where t = 0.2 s

Mass of the particle = 100 g = 0.1 kg

Initial velocity u = 20 cm/s

velocity after impact v = -10 cm/s

We know that

Impulse = Change in momentum

F\times t=mu-mv

\implies F\times 0.2 = 0.1(20+10)\times 10^{-2}

\implies F\times 0.2 = 3\times 10^{-2}

\implies F=\frac{3\times 10^{-2}}{0.2} N

\implies F=0.15 N
