A particle moving with a uniform acceleration travels 24 metres and 64 metres in first two successive intervals
of 4 seconds each. Its initial velocity is
(1) 1 m/s
(2) 2 m/s
(3) 5 m/s
(4) 10 m/s

Answer:

1m/s

Explanation:

Assume that u is initial velocity and a is acceleration

Then

s = ut +  1/2 a t^2

24 = u(4) +1/2 * a * 16

24 = 4u + 8a or u + 2a = 6 (1)....

Next initial velocity is u+4a so,

64=(u+4a)4 + 8a

16=u+6a(2)..

Using (1) in (2)

we get u = 1m/s

Thank u
