a particle of mass M is moving in a horizontal circle of radius R with uniform speed v.

let particle initial moves east direction when it becomes diametrically opposite, will move west direction as shown in figure.

here it is clear that, initial velocity and final velocity are just opposite to each other. but magnitude of velocity are same and that is v.

so, initial momentum = mv

final momentum = m(-v) = -mv

change in momentum = final momentum- initial momentum

= -mv - mv = -2mv

magnitude of change in momentum = |-2mv| = 2mv
