Answer:

Here's the answer :-

Explanation:

A particle perform SHM of amplitude 10cm its max velocity during oscillation is 100cm/s. What is the displacement when the velocity is 60cm/s?

JEE Main, JEE Advanced, BITSAT mock test.

The expression for velocity in SHM is

v = w [ A^2 - x^2 ]^1/2…………………(1).

When displacement , x= 0, the velocity is maximum.

v( max.) = wA…………..(2)

Amplitude ,A= 10 cm is given.

Maximum velocity , v(max.) = 100 cm/s is also given.

Putting these values in equation (2), we get angular frequency,

w= 100/10 = 10 rad/s.

When v= 60 cm/s, we get x from equation (1).

60 = 10 [ 10^2 - x^2]^1/2.

Squaring on both sides,

36 = 100 - x^2.

Therefore, x= 8 cm.
