A particle starts moving from rest at t=0 and moves in a straight line with an acceleration as shown in the following figure. The velocity of the particle at t= 3s is:

a. 2m/s
b. 4m/s
c. 6m/s
d. 8m/s

answer: 4m/s

Explanation:

as particle start from rest so, u1=0.

and i know about first case accleration and time which is +4and0 respectively. now i can find the value of v1 by equation of motion which will be equal to u2 (initial velocity of second case where accleration is -4m/s2).then simarly i can find the value of v2 by equation of motion.

Note:The graph shows accleration is constant in 2 case 1st is +4 for 2 second and 2nd is -4 for 1 second becoz it show straight line.
