Answer:

Given : 20 oscillations in 40 seconds

To find : Time period and frequency

Definitions :

1. Time period: It is time taken to complete one full oscillation by an object undergoing periodic oscillatory motion.

2. Frequency : It is the reciprocal of Time period.

Calculations:

Application pf unitary method:

20 oscillations in 40 seconds

=> 1 oscillation in 40/20 = 2 seconds.

As per definition, the time period is 2 sec.

Now frequency = 1/time period

=> freq. = 1/2 = 0.5 Hz

As we know A Time period (denoted by 'T' ) is the time needed for one complete oscillation.

20 oscillations take 40 seconds.

1 oscillations take (40/20) = 2 seconds.

Therefor time period is 2 seconds.

Frequency is inverse of time period i.e. 1/2 = 0.5Hz
