Given :
Velocity fot first 20 sec = 3m/s
Velocity fot another 30 sec = 2m/s
To find :
Average velocity for the whole journey = ?
Solution :
- Distance travelled in first 20 sec
Distance = speed × Time
= 20 × 3
= 60m
- Distance travelled in another 30 sec
Distance = speed × Time
= 30 × 2
= 60m
- Average velocity = Total distance travelled / Time taken
= 60 + 60 / (30+20+ 10)
=120 / 60
= 2m/s
The average velocity of the particle is 2m/s
