Answer:

11/3 = 3.67 m/s

Explanation:

A particle travels half of the time with constant speed 2m/s. in the remaining half time it travels 1/4th distance with constant speed 4m/s and 3/4th distance with 6m/s. find average speed during the entire journey

Let Say Total Journey = D  m

Total Time =  T

Average Speed During Journey = D/T

Distance Traveled for Half Time = 2(T/2) = T m

in Remaining T/2  time  He will cover  D - T m

1/4th Distance  =  (D -T)/4

Speed = 4 m/s

Time =  (D -T)/16

3/4th Distance  =  3(D -T)/4

Speed = 6 m/s

Time =  (D -T)/8

(D -T)/16 +  (D -T)/8  = T/2

Multiplying by 16 both sides

=> D - T + 2(D - T) = 8T

=> 3D = 11T

=> D/T = 11/3

average speed during the entire journey = 11/3 = 3.67 m/s

Answer:

11/3 m/s

Explanation:

2t = d1…..(i)

[d/4] /4+[3d/4] /6 = t

⇒ 3d/16 = t…..(ii)

  • Average velocity = total distance/total time

       =[d1+d2] / 2t = [2t+16t/3] / 2t

       = 11 / 3 m/s
