Length of the outer rectangle = 120m
Breadth of the outer rectangle = 65m

Area of the outer rectangle = L x B
= 120 x 65
= 7800m

Length of inner rectangle = 120-3-3
= 120 - 6
= 114 metre square

Breadth of the inner rectangle
= 65 - 3 - 3
= 65 - 6
= 59m

Area of the inner rectangle
= L x B
= 114m x 59m
= 6726 metre square.

Area of path = outer area - inner area

= 7800 metre square - 6726 metre square

= 1074 metre square

Let ABCD be the given park.

Then ABCD is the inside of path and EFGH is the outside of path.

also PA = DQ = DR = CS = 3 m  (width of path)

Now EH = PQ = PA + AD + DQ = 3 m + 120 + 3 m = 126

and HG = RD + DC + CS = 3m + 65 m + 3 m = 71 m

we know that area of rectangle = Length × breadth

⇒ Area of garden (ABCD) = AD × DC = 120m × 65 m = 7,800m^2

and Area of EFGH = EH × HG = 126m × 71 m =

 8,946m^2

Hence area of path = Area of EFGH – Area of ABCD

= 8946-7800=

1,146m^2
