Area of square=90×90=8100 m ²
Area of path running outside of square=90+5×90+5=95×95
=9025

Area of path = area of path running outside the square-area of square
=9025-8100
=925 m square

Given,

The width of the path w = 5m

The square park's inner side a₁= 90m

To Find,

The area of the path.

Solution,

Given that,

The inner side of the square park a₁ =90m

The path's width w = 5m

Inner square's area a₁²  = 90²

a₁² = 90 × 90

a₁² = 8100m²

The side of outer square a₂= 90 + 5 + 5

a₂ = 100 m

The outer square's area a₂² = 100²

a₂² = 100 × 100

a₂² = 10000m²

Therefore to find the path's area needs to subtract the area of the outer square and inner square.

a₂² - a₁²  =  10000 - 8100

Area of path = 1900m².

Hence, the 5m wide path area is 1900m².
