A pencil when dipped in water in a glass tumbler appears to be bent at the interface of water and air. Will the pencil be bent to the same extent

this phenomenon is termed as refraction !

no because the rate of refraction of light depends upon the refractive index of a substance and water, kerosene or turpentine do not have the same refraction index so the rate at which the pencil seems to be bent would be for substance to substance .........Hopes helps u mate.........
